The Greatbow is a Greatbow in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

306 physical at max, four points behind the Golem Greatbow, on 4.5 less weight and a lower Str requirement, and it is one of only two greatbows that will accept a different Ash of War. Chest atop the Highway Lookout Tower in northeastern Altus Plateau. For most builds this is the better pick over the Golem Greatbow despite the lower ceiling.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 20 and Dex 20 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Enormous greatbow larger than any man. Can not be drawn with any ordinary level of strength, but the force of its shots is extraordinary. A greatbow can only fire great arrows.
