Margit, the Fell Omen

Margit, the Fell Omen
Type Great Boss
Region Limgrave, Altus Plateau
Runes 12,000
Weak To Slash
Required No

Margit, the Fell Omen is a great boss in Elden Ring.

Margit, the Fell Omen guards the gate of Stormveil Castle and is the first great test for most players. He waits beyond the Castleward Tunnel Site of Grace in Stormhill. He mixes a heavy cane with conjured holy daggers, a sword and a hammer. His long, delayed combos punish impatience, but every combo leaves an opening once it ends.

Lore

Margit is a tall, hunched Omen with a long tail who leans on a heavy cane. He conjures weapons of golden holy light: daggers, a sword and a great hammer.

Margit was an Omen who earned dread during the Shattering. He slaughtered countless champions who sought the title of Elden Lord. During the Second Defense of Leyndell he stacked the corpses of heroes high, yet the Erdtree stood unshaken.

Margit despises the Tarnished and their ambition for lordship. After his defeat at Stormveil his voice lingers as he fades away. His true nature is revealed only at the Elden Throne.

Where to find Margit, the Fell Omen Location?

  • Stormveil Castle, at the gate before the castle (Castleward Tunnel Site of Grace, Stormhill, Limgrave)
  • Capital Outskirts, as a weaker phantom southwest of the Outer Wall Battleground Site of Grace (Altus Plateau)

Weak To Slash
Resists Holy
Immune Sleep, Madness
Parry Yes

Phases

  • Phase 1: Margit fights with his cane, holy daggers and a holy sword.
  • Phase 2: at about 60% health he summons a holy hammer with a sweep and a leaping slam, then adds hammer combos.

Attacks

  • Dagger Toss and Jump: he throws two holy daggers and lunges with a jumping stab. Walking sideways dodges the daggers, and a roll through the jump avoids the stab.
  • Upward and Downward Strikes: a rising slash, then a slow overhead strike. Running to the right escapes the strong tracking of the strike.
  • Charged Overhead Strike: a slow two-handed slam. Running to the right avoids it.
  • Double Slash Combo: two sideways swings and a ground stab. A roll back from the second swing baits the stab, which a run to the right avoids.
  • Tail Sweep: used only when the player is behind him. A roll through or away avoids it.
  • Hammer Sweep and Jump Attack: the move that opens phase two. A roll away from the sweep and through the jump avoids both, but the landing shockwave reaches far.

Tactics

  1. Buy Margit's Shackle from Patches and use it to pin him for free hits in phase one.
  2. Summon Sorcerer Rogier from the sign by the boss door, or summon the Lone Wolf Ashes or the Spirit Jellyfish.
  3. Upgrade the weapon before the fight.
  4. Dodge his combos instead of blocking, and attack only after he has clearly finished.
  5. Punish the leaping hammer slam by rolling toward him and landing one or two hits.
  6. Parry his cane attacks, since two parries open him to a critical hit.
  7. In phase two, keep using the same bait-and-punish rhythm.
