The Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear is a Great Spear in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Siofra River, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

The Arcane payoff: 55 innate bleed, longest weapon in its class per, which records 707 attack rating (AR) with 90 bleed buildup at 34 Str / 14 Dex / 60 Arc. Its skill Bloodboon Ritual hits through walls and objects and adds a flat 30 attack rating (AR) of fire regardless of stats for roughly 17 usable seconds. Remembrance of the Blood Lord, so it is a late pivot.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Bloodboon Ritual costs 20 FP. Raise the sacred spear and pierce the body of the Formless Mother. Stab up to three times, creating explosions of blood with each thrust. This skill will coat the armament with bloodflame for a while. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D, Dex at E and Arc at D, so Str and Arc are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 24, Dex 14 and Arc 27 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes blood loss buildup (55) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Trident of Mohg, Lord of Blood. A sacred spear that will come to symbolize his dynasty. As well as serving as a weapon, it is an instrument of communion with an outer god who bestows power upon accursed blood. The mother of truth desires a wound.
