Abilities
| Ability | Effect | Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Two-Hit Combo | A chain of two heavy blows in melee range, described as a right-then-left punch. Every hit stuns you if it lands. | Do not trade hits; dodge both blows and punish after the second. A shield can block this combo. |
Resistances and Weaknesses
Weaknesses:
- Takes extra damage from fire; fire staves, staff charges and fire wands are the usual pick.
- Takes extra damage from Shroud damage.
- When it curls up into a ball to defend itself it stays low and open to hits for about 7 seconds without attacking.
Resistances:
- Resists blunt damage.
- Resists ice damage.
- Takes normal damage from cutting, piercing, poison and shock.
How to Beat the Vukah Brawler
- Kill the smaller Vukah around the hill first, and target any staff-carrying Vukah before anything else, because they heal the Brawler.
- Eat buff food before the fight and keep health potions and bandages on the action bar; the Brawler can down you in a couple of hits.
- Fight with range and fire: a staff with fire charges or a fire wand while keeping your distance is the safest approach.
- Keep moving and avoid the brown mud patches; mud slows you at once and long standing in grass can do the same, which makes the leap hard to dodge. Fighting in daylight makes the mud easier to see.
- Hold a short-to-middle distance: too far invites the leap, too close invites the heavy combo.
- Safe spot at Vukah Ceremony Hill: from outside the gates, follow the edge of the hill around to the back of the arena; from there a ranged fire weapon hits it while it cannot reach you, since it only fights in melee. Slip through the gate gaps afterwards to loot.

Lore
The Brawler is the champion of gladiator fights held by a Vukah warrior sect, and is much bigger than an ordinary Vukah. A lore note by Marianne Reed at Vukah Ceremony Hill says the arena belongs to a warrior clan that crowns the lone survivor of its gladiator fights, and that their gods are ancient beasts of earth and sky honoured through totems. The quest Vukah Ceremony says the Vukah gathering in the Low Meadows have created a champion, and asks you to beat it to restore peace. The head's description warns that its tusks stay sharp after death. The Vukah are an upright, furred, animal-like people who use simple tools and ambush tactics to defend their territory.
Notes
- The Vukah Language and Vukah Culture skills have no effect on the Brawler.
- Vukah Ceremony is given by the Carpenter after reaching character level 7 and finishing Carpentry Assistance; it rewards the Vukah Brawler Head and 75 XP.
- A Beehive Smoker comes from the Farmer; the stolen smoker is carried to Vukah Sacrifice Hill and recovering it unlocks the Honey Beehive.
- Jezmina's Apotheosis is a legendary one-handed axe with fire magic damage, health leech and the Brutal perk.
