Krom is the first two-handed sword Valheim asks you to make, cut from Mistlands hare hide and older metal, and it is the point where the shield comes off your arm for good. It deals 150 slash damage. At 150 total damage it ranks 6th among swords, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 1 black forge from:
- 30x Iron: Smelted from scrap iron in a smelter.
- 20x Bronze: Made at a forge.
- 5x Scale Hide: Dropped by hares in the Mistlands.

When to Use It
Mid game. It needs Mistlands materials and a Black Forge, so it comes after Yagluth and the sea crossing that follows him. The Ashlands and the Deep North still lie beyond this biome.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:

Properties
You can make it the day you build the Black Forge, since it needs station level 1, where Nidhögg needs 3 and Dyrnwyn needs 4. It deals 150 slash, the most in its class at that point, for 20 stamina a swing and no shield.
Reach is the point. The primary attack is a wide vertical arc, though the third hit of the combo narrows, and the secondary is a long thrust that outranges most things in the game. Against a Seeker, that means you hit first from outside its reach.
Notes
- Brenna, in the Smouldering Tombs, fights with a fiery Krom whose secondary attack is an explosion instead of a thrust.
- It is named for Crom, the god the Cimmerians swear by in Robert E. Howard's Conan stories.
