The Storm Star is a club in Valheim, dealing 135 blunt and 10 lightning. At 145 total damage it is 3rd of the 13 clubs, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt and lightning damage hurts Lava Blob, Morgen and Blob more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Black forge, station level 4.
Costs 1x Flametal mace, 8x Flametal, 1x Iolite at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Ashlands biome.

When to Use It

Late game. Flametal is in the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes and, until 1.0, the hardest biome in the game.

Upgrades

Properties

Chain lightning on the best stagger secondary in the game. Iolite adds 10 lightning and a 25% chance on the primary of chain lightning: 75 damage that ignores skill, cannot be blocked or dodged, and has an 80% chance to bounce to 2 to 4 more targets within 8 metres.

Lightning is the least resisted damage in the game, with one creature resisting it and none immune, and blunt is the type the Charred are hit by anyway. There is very little in the Ashlands this pairing does not answer.

Notes

The primary moves you forward 0.66 m with each swing, which closes distance the knockback just opened.
The secondary narrows to a 30 degree arc from the primary's 90, so it is a single-target finisher and not a crowd tool.
A two-handed hammer lands its blow 2 metres in front of the player and damages a 4-metre radius around that point, so positioning matters more than aim.
Upgrading does not raise lightning: it is 10 at quality 1 and 10 at quality 4. The ladder buys blunt 135 to 153.
