The Thundering Berserkir Axes is an axe in Valheim, dealing 140 slash, 80 chop and 10 lightning. At 230 total damage it is 2nd of the 15 axes, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Lightning damage hurts Lava Blob, Morgen and Blob more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Black forge, station level 4.
Costs 1x Berserkir axes, 5x Flametal, 1x Iolite at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Ashlands biome.

When to Use It

Late game. Flametal is in the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes and, until 1.0, the hardest biome in the game.

Upgrades

Properties

6 hits, 6 rolls for chain lightning. Iolite adds 10 lightning and a 25% chance on the primary of chain lightning: 75 damage that ignores your skill, cannot be blocked or dodged, and has an 80% chance to bounce to 2 to 4 more targets within 8 metres. A 4-step combo rolls that dice 6 times.

Lightning is the least resisted damage in the game. One creature resists it, none are immune. Against the Charred in a fortress corridor the bounces compound in a way no damage figure on this page shows.

Notes

Chopping wood does not deal lightning to the tree, but the chain can still trigger while you chop, hitting whatever is standing nearby. Larger groups take more total damage and die faster.
