Set a jade from a charred fortress into the Berserkir axes and they come back as Primal Berserkir Axes. You get the same dual-wielded flurry of the Ashlands, now with poison behind every hit and a chance to root whatever it lands on. The axes deal 140 slash, 80 chop and 10 poison, and their 230 total damage matches the Thundering Berserkir Axes. Morgen resist blunt, fire, pierce and slash, but not poison, so the poison reaches them in full, though it is a small share of each hit. Poison damage also hurts the Cultist and Ulv more than most mobs.
How to Craft
You craft them at a level 4 black forge with this recipe:
- 1x Berserkir Axes: made at a black forge.
- 5x Flametal: smelted from flametal ore in a blast furnace.
- 1x Jade: found in the charred fortresses of the Ashlands.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Berserkir Axes | Ashlands | Black Forge | spawn AxeBerzerkr
| |
| Flametal | Ashlands | Blast Furnace | spawn FlametalNew
| |
| Jade | Ashlands | - | spawn GemstoneGreen
|
When to Use It
This is a late game weapon. Flametal comes from the Ashlands, the furthest south the map goes.
Upgrades
You can upgrade them 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. The other figures on this page are for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits on the ladder:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Poison | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 4) | 140 | 10 | 175 |
|
| 2 | Black forge (Level 5) | 145 | 10 | 225 | |
| 3 | Black forge (Level 6) | 150 | 10 | 275 | |
| 4 | Black forge (Level 7) | 155 | 10 | 325 |

Properties
You get 6 chances to pin something. Jade adds 10 poison and a 20% chance to immobilise for 10 seconds, and every hit in the 6-hit dual-wield combo rolls for it. Immobilise stops movement and turning, but not attacking, blocking or rolling.
The poison is the smaller half of the gem. Many creatures are immune to poison, and the ones that are not mostly live outside the Ashlands. Take these axes to hold a pack still, and take the Thundering version for damage.
Notes
- Chop damage only applies to trees, not creatures, which is why only an axe can fell a tree.
- Which trees an axe can fell depends on its tier. Stone and flint handle Beech, Fir and Pine. Bronze and iron add Birch, Oak and the Ancient Tree. Only the Black metal axe and the Jotun Bane cut Yggdrasil shoots and Scorched trees.
- The first hit of a two-handed combo is by far the slowest at 1.58 seconds. The second and third take about 0.92 and 0.7 seconds and deal triple damage between them.
- Upgrading does not raise the poison, which is 10 at quality 1 and still 10 at quality 4. The upgrades raise slash from 140 to 155.
