Lightning Strike is the elemental staff of the Deep North. Each cast costs 40 eitr and fires a bolt that calls lightning down where it lands, dealing 300 lightning to everything within three metres.
How to Craft
Craft it in a frost foundry from:
- 1x Cast: Lightning Strike: Poured at a level 3 galdr table from bloodgold, nornathread, thunderblood essence and its mould.
- 5x Liquid Frost: Frozen down from ice in a frigid kiln.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cast: Lightning Strike | Deep North | Galdr Table | spawn StaffThunderbloodUncooked

| Liquid Frost | Deep North | Frigid Kiln | spawn FrozenFuel

Mould
The Mould: Lightning Strike is found in the Deep North:
- Smash it out of the trash piles in the Winding Tunnels.
- Look in the chests at memorial sites.
- Check the weapon stands on the last floor of Mörkhalla.
When to Use It
End game. You need Fader dead to progress through the Deep North.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it twice at the galdr table. Each step needs the station one level higher than the last and costs the per-level amount, then twice it. Quality 4, at four times the per-level amount, needs a level 6 galdr table, above its maximum of 5, so that row is out of reach.
| Quality | Crafting Station | Lightning | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Frost Foundry | 300 | 400 | |
| 2 | Galdr Table (Level 4) | 320 | 450 |
|
| 3 | Galdr Table (Level 5) | 340 | 500 |
|
| 4 | Galdr Table (Level 6, not yet available) | 360 | 550 |

Properties
Each cast costs 40 eitr and launches a bolt, and where it hits, lightning comes down on everything within three metres. In the Deep North only the Barka and Kall Fimbulbringer resist lightning, while Shapeless and Tiny Pulps take extra.
Like all Deep North staves, it is cast at a level 3 galdr table and hardened in a frost foundry. You repair it at the galdr table and upgrade it there, from level 4 for quality 2 up to level 6 for quality 4. The galdr table only reaches level 5, so in practice it stops at quality 3, and the Forge of Potential takes it further with a Bloodgold Battle Idol. While it is in your hands you move 5% slower.
It deals area damage on every cast. The strike hits the whole three-metre circle, so it is at its best against groups.
You move 5% slower while it is in your hands.
At quality 1 it deals 300 lightning, which is 300 damage in total. Each upgrade adds 20 lightning, so at quality 3 it deals 340 lightning, 340 in total.
Its hits knock back with a force of 10.
It weighs 0.3 and has 400 durability, or 500 at quality 3.
Against Deep North creatures, lightning deals extra damage to Shapeless and Tiny Pulps. It deals full damage to Elakings, the Eyeless One, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Moose, and reduced damage to the Barka and Kall Fimbulbringer.
Quality 4 needs a level 6 galdr table, above its maximum of 5, so in practice it stops at quality 3.
Crafted from scratch and taken to quality 3, it costs 25 bloodgold, 11 nornathread and 4 thunderblood essence, plus a mould and 5 liquid frost.
Notes
- The cast takes ten bloodgold, five nornathread, one thunderblood essence and the mould.
- Past its last quality level, the Forge of Potential can push it further with a bloodgold battle idol.
