The Broadhead Bolt is a Master crossbow bolt with a 100% chance to cause bleeding for 15 seconds. The crafted variant adds +8 piercing and +8 silver at level 9. The basic variant adds +12 piercing and +12 silver at level 19. Its diagram is always in a small chest in the Ancient Crypt during The Sunstone. The crafted variant is early game and the basic variant is mid game.
Every hit starts bleed damage over time, which suits a bleeding hybrid build. The Wolven grandmaster 3-piece bonus raises sword damage for each Bleeding effect on an enemy.

How to Get Broadhead Bolt
- Crafted: Take Diagram: Broadhead Bolt from the small chest near the Place of Power in the Ancient Crypt during The Sunstone. You can also buy it from the armorer in Hierarch Square or the Fish Market blacksmith in Novigrad. Each craft makes a stack of 20. The blacksmiths in Arinbjorn and Oxenfurt and the Crow's Perch quartermaster also sell the bolts.
- Basic: Buy them from the blacksmiths in Fayrlund, Kaer Trolde citadel and Larvik, or from Éibhear Hattori. A stack of 20 is always in the gargoyle's cave during Wandering in the Dark.
Broadhead Bolt Map Location and Quest Guide
The pin marks the Ancient Crypt on the north coast of Ard Skellig. The Broadhead Bolt diagram always sits in a small chest near the Place of Power inside. Geralt explores the crypt with Philippa Eilhart during the main quest The Sunstone.
- Find Ermion to ask about the Sunstone. If Cerys or Hjalmar rules Skellige, ask Crach an Craite at Kaer Trolde where Ermion went.
- Win the fight that breaks out, then talk to Ermion about the Sunstone.
- Ask the skald Eyvind or the pearl divers in their underwater cave about the elven ruins.
- Talk to Yennefer and Philippa. Philippa joins Geralt to find the Sunstone.
- Travel to the Ancient Crypt on the north coast of Ard Skellig and meet Philippa at the entrance.
- Kill the drowners and the siren inside.
- Loot the small chest near the Igni Place of Power for the Broadhead Bolt diagram.
