Killing In The Name is a side job in which V hunts for the source of strange writings posted by someone calling themselves Swedenborg-Riviera. It starts with a message from the Bartmoss Collective after Transmission, but can only be followed up after A Like Supreme, with help from Nancy Hartley. The trail of hacked routers leads across Santo Domingo and the Badlands to Pacifica.
Story
Swedenborg-Riviera
Johnny is intrigued. In the journal he says that writing such nonsense takes a good head. He quotes a line, "Humanity is nothing but a pyramid scheme hidden behind a facade of tears", and wants to know what the writer is on, and where to get some.
A message on V's computer points to a post by Nancy, the keyboard player of Samurai, on the Bartmoss Collective website. V calls her, and she gives V the coordinates of a signal coming from an apartment building in Rancho Coronado.
The Routers
At the first site, V scans for clues and hacks a router at the top of a fire escape. A message from an unknown sender sends V to a second router, on top of a trailer in Jackson Plains, guarded by Wraiths. The third router sits at the top of one of the huge Biotechnica greenhouses. The fourth, in West Wind Estate in Pacifica, stands next to a hacked fortune teller machine at an old amusement park. The machine is the source of the writings.
The Machine
V listens to the fortune teller bot and can pay to hear V's fortune. Scanning shows that the bot has been tampered with. V decides what to do with it, then calls Nancy to tell her what V found.
Killing In The Name Map Location and Walkthrough
Killing In The Name map location:
- Read the message from the Bartmoss Collective on V's computer.
- Check Nancy's post on the Bartmoss website and call Nancy.
- Go to Nancy's coordinates in Rancho Coronado and scan the area for clues.
- Climb the fire escape and hack the router at the top.
- Talk to Johnny.
- Go to the second site in Jackson Plains. Sneak past or fight the Wraiths and follow the cables to the router on top of a trailer. Hack it.
- Go to the Biotechnica farm, scan the broken railing and climb to the top of the structure to hack the third router.
- Go to the signal's source in West Wind Estate and listen to the fortune teller bot.
- Pay to hear V's fortune if desired.
- Scan the fortune teller bot to see if it has been tampered with, and hack the router beside it.
- Read the message V receives and talk to Johnny.
- Decide what to do with the machine.
- Call Nancy.

Choices
The Fortune Teller
Leaving the machine alone lets it keep spreading rumours and quotes on the net, which pleases Johnny. Switching it off takes down the website too, to Johnny's dismay, and a niche in memory of Swedenborg appears at the North Oak Columbarium. With enough Intelligence, V can hack it to churn out even more nonsense, which pleases Johnny as well.
Nancy
V can tell Nancy the truth or say there is nothing new to report.
Rewards
