Draconic Tree Sentinel is a field boss in Elden Ring.
The Draconic Tree Sentinel is a Tree Sentinel turned half dragon, riding a fire-breathing warhorse. One stands guard before the gate into Leyndell in the Capital Outskirts, and the fog on that gate lifts only when it falls. Another blocks the way to Maliketh in Crumbling Farum Azula. It mixes heavy hammer blows with fire and red lightning.
Lore
The rider is a misshapen Tree Sentinel in malformed golden armor covered in dragon imagery. It swings a great hammer and carries a shield, and its horse breathes fire.
After the great ancient dragon Gransax attacked Leyndell, the sentinels had an epiphany. The only way to truly protect the Erdtree was to become dragons themselves.

Attacks
- Hammer Swings: heavy swings from horseback; stay on its shield side and dodge the slower shield bash.
- Horse Fireball: the horse rears and spits a fireball, often at medium range or to punish healing; dodge sideways, then heal.
- Hoof Stomp: the horse rears and stomps; roll to its left side as it rears.
- Lightning Slam: the hammer crackles with lightning and the ground slam reaches farther; roll inside the circle or stay well away.
- Lightning Bolt: it raises its shield and calls down a bolt; roll the moment the shield drops.
- Lightning Storm: it calls a storm while sweeping with the shield; stay back until it clears.
Tactics
- Approach from behind before it notices and open with rot or poison.
- Stay on its left, the shield side, where its attacks are slower and weaker.
- Use rot or poison; it has low resistance and loses health quickly over time.
- Break its stance with charged hammer attacks and jumping attacks, though it is immune to critical hits.
- Summon Great Horned Tragoth or Millicent to share its attention.
- Ride Torrent and limit each opening to two or three hits.
