The Smithscript Shield is a Small Shield in Elden Ring. It comes from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

The Smithscript Shield is a roundshield engraved with smithscript, a throwing weapon created through the smithing arts. It lies at the end of an upper hallway in Taylew's Ruined Forge, past a pair of Golem Smiths and beneath a ceiling enemy that drops fire. Its unique skill, Discus Hurl, throws the shield like a discus that hangs in the air for a moment, then spins vertically and chases down its target with excellent tracking. That lets it deal damage from range while waiting for an opening, and the skill's damage rises with the Smithing Talisman. It suits a build that wants a ranged option from its off hand.

How to Get Smithscript Shield Guide

Found on a corpse in Taylew's Ruined Forge.
After reaching the top of the pipe at its original position, jump over to the path leading to the lever, but instead climb the rubble in the room past the hallway to reach the shield.
It is guarded by a Golem Smith.

Skill

Discus Hurl costs 3 FP. The wielder tosses the round shield high like a discus, where it hangs in the air for a moment before spinning down to chase its target. The delayed homing strike catches enemies that dodge as soon as the throw begins, and it costs very little FP. The Smithing Talisman and the Shard of Alexander both boost its damage. It is exclusive to this weapon.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 47, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 53. It lets 16% of physical damage through. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

Thrown with Discus Hurl to chip at enemies from range while waiting for an opening, then held for guarding.

Stats	Strength 10, Dexterity 15, Intelligence 11 and Faith 11 to wield it, then Vigor 40 then 60 and Endurance 20 to 30, with the rest in the main weapon's stat
