The Coil Shield is a Small Shield in Elden Ring. It is a mid-game find on Mt. Gelmir.

The Coil Shield is a showy shield made for gladiatorial combat, adorned with a sculpted bronze viper of a poisonous breed that boosts the wielder's resistance to poison. It lies on a corpse in a side room of the Volcano Cave on Mt. Gelmir, reached by dropping off a ledge at the end of the right-most tunnel, where enemies wait in ambush. Striking with the shield builds poison, and its unique skill, Viper Bite, shakes the shield to bring the snake to life and bite, inflicting deadly poison. Used from stealth, the skill can fill the poison meter before the enemy reacts. It suits builds that open fights with poison, especially those using Kindred of Rot's Exultation.

The Coil Shield is the hardest-hitting small shield at 92 physical and only 1.5 weight, and it turns blocking into a poison plan: attacks build 72 poison, it raises Immunity, and its Viper Bite skill inflicts deadly poison. Found on a corpse within one of the tunnel rooms in Volcano Cave on Mt. Gelmir.
