The Black Metal Tower Shield is for fights you mean to survive standing still, when three things are already swinging at you and a parry window is a luxury. It has 104 block armour. Its materials come from the Plains, and it is made at a Forge.
How to Craft
Crafted at a level 3 Forge from:
- 15x Finewood: chopped from Birch and Oak trees with a Bronze Axe or better.
- 10x Black Metal: smelted from Black Metal Scrap in a Blast Furnace.
- 7x Chain: drops from Wraiths and found in Sunken Crypts.

When to Use It
This is mid game gear. Black Metal drops from Fulings in the Plains, well past Moder.
Upgrades
The shield can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every figure quoted elsewhere on this page is quality 1, so here is the full upgrade ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:

Properties
104 armour and 150 block force, the most block force in the game outside the Ashlands. That means a Fuling Berserker rebounds off you instead of carrying on with its combo.
A tower shield cannot parry. While drawn it costs 10% of your movement speed and raises the cost of a dodge roll by the same 10%, and in exchange it blocks harder than anything else in its tier. What you give up is the parry, which staggers the attacker into taking double damage.

- You pick the design and colour with the style button at the crafting bench, and they are locked once the shield is made.
