The late Plains gear, from the atgeir to the tower shield, is made from Black Metal, and none of it is mined. The bars come out of a Blast Furnace fed with scrap taken from Fulings.
How to Get It
Collect Black Metal Scrap by killing Fulings, Berserkers and Shamans in the Plains and by looting the chests in their camps and villages. Smelt the scrap with coal in a Blast Furnace, which needs Surtling Cores and iron before you can build it. Neither the scrap nor the bars go through a wood portal, so the whole haul comes home by Longship or cart. Because the metal comes from Fuling settlements rather than a deposit, expect the trip to be a fight, not a dig.
Notes
- The armor of the Plains, Padded Armor, is made from Iron rather than Black Metal.
- Like other metals, it can only be teleported through a Portal Stone.
- Making one of every Black Metal weapon and shield takes 98 Black Metal, and upgrading them all fully takes another 260, for 358 in total.
