The Iron Mace is the answer to a chamber full of skeletons, whose bones shrug off an edge but cave in under blunt weight. It deals 55 blunt, its materials come from the Swamp, and you make it at a Forge. At 55 total damage it ranks 8th among clubs, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt damage hurts Blobs, Bonemass and Oozers more than most things, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 2 forge from:
- 4x Wood: Chopped from any tree.
- 20x Iron: Smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.
- 3x Leather Scraps: Drops from boars and bats, and dug out of muddy scrap piles.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood
| |
| Iron | Swamp | Smelter | spawn Iron

| Leather Scraps | Meadows | - | spawn LeatherScraps

When to Use It
This is early game gear. Iron comes from Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so it opens up once The Elder is down.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Blunt | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 2) | 55 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Forge (Level 3) | 61 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Forge (Level 4) | 67 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Forge (Level 5) | 73 | 350 |
|
Properties
It is the last pure blunt club until the Ashlands. Every club between this and the Flametal Mace mixes in another damage type, which sounds like an upgrade but is not, because a mixed weapon cannot fully exploit a blunt weakness.
It deals 55 blunt for 10 stamina. Against a Skeleton's 50% blunt weakness, that is worth more than the 75 slash of a Silver Sword swung at the same target.
Notes
- The primary attack moves you forward 0.66 m with each swing, closing the distance the knockback just opened.
- The secondary attack narrows to a 30 degree arc from the primary's 90, so it is a single-target finisher, not a crowd tool.
- A two-handed hammer lands its blow 2 metres in front of you and damages a 4-metre radius around that point, so positioning matters more than aim.
