The Silver Sword is a sword in Valheim, dealing 75 slash and 30 spirit. At 105 total damage it is 12th of the 15 swords, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Spirit damage hurts Bat, Ghost and Wraith more than most things, which is what to carry it for.

How to Craft

Crafted at Forge, station level 3.
Costs 2x Wood, 40x Silver, 3x Leather scraps, 5x Iron at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Mountain biome.

When to Use It

Mid game. Silver is under the Mountain snow and needs a Wishbone to find, so this follows Bonemass.

Upgrades

Properties

The highest spirit damage of any weapon in the game. 30 of it, and spirit is the type nothing resists. The catch is that it only lands on undead and demon factions at all: against a Fuling or a Seeker this is a 75-slash sword and the Black Metal Sword hits for 95.

So it is a dungeon sword. Carry it into the Burial Chambers, the Sunken Crypts and the Frost Caves, and carry something else outside them. It stays useful much later than its slash number suggests, because the Ashlands is full of things spirit hurts.

Notes

Spirit is not instant damage. It applies a ticking debuff that stacks, in the same way fire does, so the damage arrives after the swing rather than with it.
