The Iron Sledge is built around a Draugr Elite trophy from the Swamp and Ymir Flesh bought from the trader, and it pays for itself the first time a crowd gets close enough for one ground slam. It deals 55 blunt, and at 55 total damage it ranks 9th among clubs, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Blunt damage hurts Blobs, Bonemass and Oozers more than most things, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 2 forge from:
- 10x Ancient Bark: Chopped from ancient trees in the Swamp.
- 30x Iron: Smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.
- 4x Ymir Flesh: Bought from Haldor.
- 1x Draugr Elite Trophy: Drops from the Draugr Elite.

When to Use It
This is early game gear. Iron comes from Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so it opens up once The Elder is down.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Blunt | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 2) | 55 | 100 |
|
| 2 | Forge (Level 3) | 61 | 150 |
|
| 3 | Forge (Level 4) | 67 | 200 |
|
| 4 | Forge (Level 5) | 73 | 250 |

Properties
It slams rather than swings. The primary attack has no combo and there is no secondary: just one long wind-up, then the hammer hits the ground and everything within a 4 metre sphere takes damage and is knocked back. Aim at the floor between enemies rather than at an enemy.
It does the same damage as the Iron Mace, spread over everything. Both deal 55 blunt, but the mace hits one target for 10 stamina while the sledge hits a 4 metre sphere for 20. In a Sunken Crypt full of Skeletons, that is the whole argument.
It is two-handed, so it costs you the shield, and the mace is also cheaper to craft. Take the sledge when you expect crowds and the mace when you expect one thing at a time.
Notes
- The primary attack moves you forward 0.66 m with each swing, closing the distance the knockback just opened.
- A two-handed hammer lands its blow 2 metres in front of you and damages a 4-metre radius around that point, so positioning matters more than aim.
