The F-GX Frag Grenade is the plain explosive of Night City. It hits enemies near the blast with an explosion and shrapnel. It is the grenade to throw at a group of enemies or at one enemy that needs a burst of damage. It fits any build, and a Technical Ability build that invests in grenades gets the most from it. The frag is the first grenade V can craft. The F-GX Frag Grenade is an early game grenade that weapon vendors sell and V can craft from the start.
Effect
The F-GX Frag Grenade explodes a short moment after it lands. The blast deals Physical damage to the enemies inside its radius. The shrapnel spreads the hit across everyone standing close together.
The frag is at its best against enemies packed into a small space. A group behind cover or a squad in a doorway takes the whole blast. Higher tiers of the grenade deal more damage.
The frag comes in three throwing types. The regular frag bounces off objects and lands where it is thrown. The sticky frag sticks to the first surface or enemy it hits. The homing frag flies straight to the nearest enemy. Each type is crafted from its own crafting spec.

Upgrades
The F-GX Frag Grenade comes in several tiers. Each higher tier deals more damage. Crafting a frag needs its crafting spec and crafting components of the matching tier. The crafting spec for the regular frag is known from the start of the game. The sticky and homing frags each need their own crafting spec. Weapon vendors sell the frag at different tiers as V levels up.
Character Builds
Grenades sit in the gadget slot. Each grenade has charges that refill over time. Perks in the Technical Ability tree make those charges come back faster. Health Freak raises the recharge speed of grenades and Health Items. Coming In Hot speeds up grenade recharge when no grenade is left. Demolitions Surplus adds one more grenade charge. It also makes grenades refill much faster outside combat. Glutton For War gives a small instant recharge after V neutralizes an enemy.
Pyromania makes the frag stronger. One level of the perk raises the explosion radius of grenades. Another level gives a short boost to movement speed and explosion damage after V hits an enemy with an explosion. That boost stacks up to five times. Burn This City uses five stacks of Pyromania to refill a grenade charge at once. Friendlier Fire lowers the damage V takes from V's own explosions, which helps when a frag lands close.
The Cellular Adapter is an Integumentary System implant. It raises grenade recharge speed for each point of Technical Ability. The Projectile Launch System is an arm implant that fires explosive shots. Pyromania and Burn This City improve both the launcher and grenades, so the two fit the same explosives build.

The in-game description calls the F-GX a hand grenade with conventional explosive filler.
