| Duration | 5 s |
The EMP Grenade fries machines and chrome. Its pulse deals Electrical damage and leaves an EMP effect on the enemies it hits. Drones, mechs, robots and turrets take extra damage from it. Enemy netrunners take extra damage too. The EMP Grenade is the answer to a fight full of machines or heavily chromed enemies. The EMP Grenade is an early game grenade that weapon vendors sell and enemies sometimes drop.
Effect
The EMP Grenade deals Electrical damage in a burst. It then applies an EMP effect for a few seconds. The EMP effect deals more Electrical damage over that time.
The grenade deals bonus damage to enemy netrunners, drones, mechs, robots and turrets. Higher tiers of the grenade also switch off enemy cyberware for a while. The effect works on every enemy inside the blast at once.
The EMP Grenade is the grenade to save for machines and netrunners. Against drones, mechs and netrunners, the bonus damage makes the EMP a stronger throw than a plain frag.
How to Get EMP Grenade Guide
- Buy the EMP Grenade from a weapon vendor.
- Loot it from enemies who carry it.

Upgrades
The EMP Grenade comes in several tiers, and each higher tier deals more damage. The ability to switch off enemy cyberware starts at the higher tiers. Crafting the grenade needs its crafting spec and crafting components of the matching tier. The EMP Grenade also comes in sticky and homing types. The sticky type sticks to the first surface or enemy it hits. The homing type flies to the nearest enemy.
Character Builds
The EMP Grenade works in any build that runs into many machines. Grenades sit in the gadget slot, and each grenade has charges that refill over time. Health Freak raises the recharge speed of grenades and Health Items. Coming In Hot speeds up grenade recharge when no grenade is left. Demolitions Surplus adds one more grenade charge. It also makes grenades refill much faster outside combat. Glutton For War gives a small instant recharge after V neutralizes an enemy.
Pyromania raises the explosion radius of grenades at one level. At another level it gives a short boost to movement speed and explosion damage after V hits an enemy with an explosion. Burn This City uses five stacks of Pyromania to refill a grenade charge at once.
The Cellular Adapter is an Integumentary System implant that raises grenade recharge speed for each point of Technical Ability. Short Circuit is a combat quickhack that also deals extra damage to mechs, robots, drones and turrets. At Tier 4, Short Circuit applies its own EMP effect. A netrunner can use Short Circuit on single machines and keep the grenade for a group.
