The Recon Grenade is a scouting tool rather than a weapon. It reveals enemies hidden behind cover and lures them with a sound. It also makes Smart weapons lock on to those enemies much faster. The Recon Grenade suits an Intelligence build that fights with Smart weapons. It also shows where every enemy stands before V commits to a fight. The Recon Grenade is an early game grenade that weapon vendors sell.
Effect
The Recon Grenade sends out a pulse when it lands. Enemies within its radius are revealed and marked, even behind cover. The grenade also emits a sound that lures enemies toward it. That sound can pull guards out of position.
The second effect works with Smart weapons. Against enemies affected by the grenade, Smart weapons lock on faster. Higher tiers raise that lock-on bonus, make it last longer and widen the radius. A quick throw before a firefight lets Smart weapon bullets find their targets sooner.

Upgrades
The Recon Grenade comes in several tiers. Each higher tier gives a bigger lock-on bonus for a longer time and a wider radius. Crafting the grenade needs its crafting spec and crafting components of the matching tier. The sticky Recon Grenade sticks to the first surface or enemy it hits.
Character Builds
The Recon Grenade belongs in an Intelligence build with Smart weapons. Smart weapons need the Smart Link, a hand implant that enables smart targeting. Acquisition Specialist makes the target reticle larger and raises lock-on speed. Targeting Prism allows several target locks at once. No Escape resets a target lock that is about to end when V shoots the target. Terminal Velocity raises projectile speed and lock-on range after V neutralizes an enemy with a Smart weapon. Smart Synergy gives Smart weapons an instant target lock while Overclock is active. It also adds damage against enemies affected by a quickhack. Recirculation restores RAM when V neutralizes an enemy with a Smart weapon. That RAM keeps the quickhacks flowing between grenade throws.
Flash Sale is a Technical Ability perk made for utility grenades. It doubles the charges and the recharge rate of Flash, Smoke and Recon grenades. Grenades sit in the gadget slot, and each grenade has charges that refill over time. Health Freak and Coming In Hot make all grenades refill faster. The Cellular Adapter implant raises grenade recharge speed for each point of Technical Ability.
