Johnny's Tank Top is the grey shirt Johnny Silverhand wears under his jacket, with the Samurai logo on the front. It is an Iconic piece of clothing for the Inner Torso slot. V gets it at the end of the main job Tapeworm, together with Johnny's military dog tags. The main story hands it over, so every playthrough receives it. The dog tags hang over the shirt and give the outfit its soldier detail.
Appearance
Johnny's Tank Top is a cosmetic piece. In the game, clothing is mostly about looks. Armor comes mainly from cyberware instead.
The Wardrobe in V's apartments changes how V looks while the stats of the equipped gear stay the same. A whole outfit can be saved there and switched on later. The tank top fits into a saved Johnny outfit together with the aviators, the jacket replica, the pants and the shoes.

Lore
The in-game description says that without the dog tags, it looks like any other fanboy shirt. The shirt carries the logo of Samurai, the band Johnny led. The tags make it his own. They date from Johnny's time as a soldier in the Second Central American War. The name on them is Robert John Linder, Johnny's birth name.
Tapeworm follows V and Johnny through the second act of the story. The two talk at several turning points, and V gets to know Johnny better each time. In the last stage, Johnny leads V to a hotel in Pacifica where a cache of his old things waits. The tank top and the dog tags come out of that cache.
