The Ripperdoc is the main job that follows The Rescue, set in Little China, Watson. V's cyberware has started to malfunction, so Jackie Welles takes V to Viktor Vektor, the ripperdoc who runs a clinic below Misty's Esoterica. Viktor fits V with new eyes and a new hand implant, the first cyberware of the story.

Story

A Call from Jackie

Since the last job, V's implants have been playing up. After a holo call with Jackie Welles, V decides to visit Viktor Vektor and find out what is wrong. The journal says there is no better ripperdoc in the city for a merc on the hunt for chrome. Better ones may exist, but V could never afford them. Viktor cannot really afford to help V either, but he has a soft spot for V and says V has a good heart, just like him.

V leaves the apartment and meets Jackie outside Megabuilding H10, where he is finishing a bowl of noodles at a food stall. Jackie has news: he has got the pair involved in a new job, set up by the fixer Dexter DeShawn. He also hands back V's car, which he borrowed for a date with his girlfriend, Misty Olszewski.

Misty's Esoterica

The two drive to Misty's Esoterica, Misty's shop of tarot cards and crystals in Little China. After a short chat with Misty, V goes down the stairs at the back of the shop to Viktor's clinic.

Viktor's Clinic

V tells Viktor about the faulty operating system and asks to upgrade the eyes and the hand. Viktor explains that the eyes will be made by Kiroshi. V can pay up front, or promise to pay after the job with interest. If V asks for credit, Viktor agrees but warns that it will be the last time. If V pays, V calls it an investment in making the job go smoothly.

V sits in the operating chair and jacks in, and the new cyberware is fitted. With the new eyes, V can scan people and objects and read data from the NCPD database about them. After testing the new hand with a weapon, V takes the pills Viktor hands over, thanks him and heads back up to Misty's shop. The story continues in The Ride.

Choices

Paying Viktor

The upgrades cost a large sum that most players will not have this early. Choosing to pay after the job puts V in debt to Viktor and starts the side job Paid in Full, which closes when the money is paid back. Paying up front skips that side job altogether.

Rewards

The job installs two implants: Kiroshi Optics, which add the scanner, and the Ballistic Coprocessor in the hands. Both stay with V after the job.

Tips

If the game crashes on the drive, a workaround is to get out of the car before reaching the clinic, walk around the other side of the building and go in on foot.

The wardrobe in V's apartment holds some free clothes from the start, so it is worth a look before leaving. More clothes appear there after The Ride.
