Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.
Demi-Human Swordmaster Onze is an aged demi-human who sealed himself away at the bottom of the Belurat Gaol. Despite his small size, he wields a magic katana with real skill. He darts and teleports around the arena between slow, telegraphed slashes. His reward is the spirit ash of his loyal apprentice, Yosh.
Lore
Onze is an elderly demi-human, small and stooped, with mottled pale skin. He wears a filthy loincloth and a tattered cape tied with rope. He wields a sword lined with small stars of crude glintstone.
In a bygone age, demi-human queens gave Star-Lined Swords to their swordsmen. Each swordsman swore to uncover the secret at the end of the line of stars. Onze devoted himself to the blade until he learned that only ruin waited at the end. He imprisoned himself to hold that ruin back.
His apprentice Yosh refused to heed him. Yosh spent the rest of his life at his master's side in that self-imposed exile.

Attacks
- Magic Slash: he teleports into the air in front of the player and slashes down with magic. A roll to the right closes the gap for a free heavy attack.
- Katana slashes: wound up for a few frames before the swing. Guarding, then attacking as he pulls back, works well.
- Quick movement: he darts around to sneak behind the player. Keeping him locked on prevents surprise hits.
Tactics
- Lock on so he cannot slip behind.
- Bring a greatshield or summon Greatshield Soldier Ashes to absorb his attacks or pin him in a corner.
- Summon Black Knife Tiche, whose fast attacks keep up with him and stagger him.
- Guard during his slashes and strike as he pulls back.
- Use slash and fire damage, because he takes extra damage from both.
