Type Legendary Boss

Weak To Pierce, Fire, Bleed, Scarlet Rot
Required No

Divine Beast Dancing Lion is a legendary boss in Elden Ring. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.

The Divine Beast Dancing Lion is a sacred beast of the hornsent, brought to life by their lion dance. The first waits at the end of Belurat, Tower Settlement, and a second guards a temple in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. It shifts between wind, frost and lightning as the fight goes on. Its delayed lunges and whirlwinds punish panicked dodging.

Lore

The Dancing Lion is a huge beast mask of horn and fur, with glowing green eyes and two sets of teeth. Two figures move inside its body like dancers, giving it many arms and legs.

The divine beasts were messengers of the heavens, and their rage mirrored the tumult of the skies. The sculpted keepers performed the lion dance during the tower festival in Belurat. Only the greatest horned warriors became divine beast warriors.

When Messmer's army assailed the tower, the lion dance was turned to war. By the end of his crusade, only two divine beasts remained. The one in Belurat rested at the Hornsent Grandam's command, waiting to avenge her people.

Weaknesses

Weak To Pierce, Fire, Bleed, Scarlet Rot
Resists Magic, Lightning, Holy, Frostbite
Immune Sleep, Madness
Parry No

Phases

  • Phase 1: the lion fights with lunges, grabs and wind attacks.
  • Later phases: it leaps into the air to change its element, adding frost or lightning attacks with their own ranged moves.

Attacks

  • Lunge Attack: it leaps high from a distance and crashes down. A roll as it lands avoids it.
  • Spinning Whirlwind: it spins rapidly with gusts that knock the player away. A greatshield or distance avoids it.
  • Grab: a lunging grab signaled by its head. Watching the head and rolling late avoids it.
  • Delayed dive rolls: it delays its rolls to catch spam dodging. Waiting for the rhythm before rolling avoids them.
  • Elemental ranged attacks: each element brings its own projectiles with different speed and reach. A greatshield or careful movement avoids them.

Tactics

  1. Summon Redmane Freyja at Belurat, or a spirit ash such as Black Knife Tiche, to draw aggression.
  2. Watch its head to read the next attack.
  3. Strike right after it finishes a string of attacks.
  4. Learn each elemental phase and its ranged attacks.
  5. At Rauh, use the pillars as cover and kill the basilisks quickly.
  6. Use fire and pierce damage, plus bleed or scarlet rot.
