The Morgott's Cursed Sword is a Curved Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

The class's Dex/Arcane outlier: 7.5 weight: less than half the Beastman's Cleaver, a 110 critical multiplier, C Dexterity and D Arcane scaling at +0, and 36 bleed rising to 60 at max standard. The trade is a 35 Dexterity requirement and the class's lowest stance damage at 96, so it is a riposte-and-bleed weapon rather than a poise-breaker.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Cursed-Blood Slice costs 20 FP. Brace, then charge forward to deliver a downward diagonal slice. The bloody trail of the blade is followed by a burst of flame. Additional input allows for a follow-up attack. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at C and Arc at D, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 14, Dex 35 and Arc 17 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes blood loss buildup (36) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Critical Damage

Critical 110. A backstab, or a riposte after a guard break, is multiplied by this, where 100 is the baseline most weapons carry.

The highest critical of its class.
It pays for getting behind an enemy or breaking their stance rather than trading hits in the open.

Warped blade of shifting hue used by Morgott, the Omen King. The accursed blood that Morgott recanted and sealed away reformed into this blade.

Trade the Remembrance of the Omen King, gained by defeating Morgott, the Omen King, with Finger Reader Enia.
Alternatively, use one of the Wandering Mausoleums with a bell to duplicate one (can only obtain one per playthrough using either method).
