Type Settlement
Region Kindlewastes
Sub-region -

Brittlebush is an abandoned town in the Kindlewastes, just past the border from the Nomad Highlands. It was the home town of Emily Fray, who left her family's farm to open a tavern here. When the land began to wither, Queen Jezmina rode ahead of her caravan to Brittlebush to rally its people for the long road to Longkeep. A farmer and cook in the crowd shouted "We must go with our Queen!", and the crowd cheered. Today Scavengers hold the streets, and the Haunted Sun Temple at its edge is home to the boss Fell Sicklescythe.

Where to Find Brittlebush - Map Location

Unique Loot

The town holds the cosmetic Hunter Set. The Hunter Headband is a yellow band that keeps hair out of the face while hunting or lumbering. The Hunter Garb is made for venturing into the forest, and the Hunter Boots (Cosmetic) make each step silent and swift. The Hunter Pants are belted to fit after venison or porridge alike. Outside town, the ring Mother's Eye lies in the Shroud to the east, in a chest exposed by blowing up an explosive barrel.

About Brittlebush

Brittlebush was a town of the Kindlewastes before the land withered into desert. Its people watched their fields and livestock die during the drought. Queen Jezmina gathered them into a caravan and led them south towards Longkeep. Emily Fray, now the Farmer, left her tavern here to follow the queen. Today the empty streets belong to Scavengers. The town is the first stop for anyone crossing from the Nomad Highlands into the Kindlewastes.

What's Inside

The Haunted Sun Temple rises north of the town, and its entrance lies just north-west of the streets. The temple is flooded with Shroud and haunted by the boss Fell Sicklescythe. The "Far Away Fray" Tavern in the western district was built by Emily Fray with her own hands. Her diary lies in its back room, and her old menu notice still hangs on the sign board out front. A Return Beacon stands at the tavern. The tavern also hides a gold chest on the roof and silver chests in the basement and the floor below it.

How to Unlock

The Carpenter gives Sun Temple Stories once the Flame reaches level 5 and either In Need Of A Tanning Station or Almanac of Plants and Seedlings For The Farmer is done. He has heard that his aunt Elin was cursed in a Kindlewastes Sun Temple. The Farmer, Emily Fray, grew up in the region and confirms that the temple in Brittlebush is haunted. The quest then marks the temple and asks for the spirit inside to be defeated. The Farmer's own quest A Beehive Smoker also starts at her old tavern in town.

Tips

The temple entrance is easy to spot when gliding into Brittlebush from the south. Lockpicks open the iron doors inside the temple. The temple lies in the Shroud, so the fight should start with a full Shroud timer. Shroud Survival Flasks and a ranged weapon help in Sun Temples, where many switches are hit with arrows. The Return Beacon at the tavern makes a close respawn point for a second attempt.

Notes

Lore tells how Queen Jezmina rode out ahead of her caravan to speak to the people of Brittlebush. She wrote that the crowd clung to her words like golden honey. A farmer and cook in the crowd shouted "We must go with our Queen!". That woman was Emily Fray, who joined the caravan and later became the Farmer. Emily's own diary tells how she gave away her last bread when her customers became people in need.
