Longkeep

Longkeep
Type Settlement
Region Springlands
Sub-region -

Longkeep is a ruined village in the south of the Springlands. It is usually the first village a new Flameborn reaches after leaving the Cinder Vault. A campfire, a bed and a water well make it a gentle place to learn the basics. Small pockets of Shroud hide weak Fell. Gormander's war banners hang at the gate, a sign that Longkeep was part of the kingdom of Meldore. Queen Jezmina led her southern caravan here when her people fled. Its notes tell of the soldiers sworn to guard the Cinder Vault. Longkeep lies on the route of the opening quest Claim A Spot For Your Base, just north of the Cinder Vault.

Enemies

Only weak Fell live in the small Shroud pockets here. They make Longkeep a safe first lesson in fighting inside the Shroud. Hophares graze near the well and give meat. A few rats live on the upper levels near the cliff. Beehives in the trees nearby give Honey and Wax.

Lore Pages

"Captain's Journal, Day One" lies in one of the two yellow tents. Captain Arkwright recalls an Ancient who entered the chamber with a few of the best warriors. The Ancient told the soldiers to hold the chamber to their last breath. "Don't Leave My Side!" lies in the highest room of the keep. In it, a writer named Emily asks Jezmina if the Ancients really want her to stay awake while the others sleep. "Falling To Ruin" is on the back of a cart. It tells how the villagers dug through the rubble and prayed while the Shroud closed in. A villager by the campfire wrote "A Good Night's Rest" and hid some rations below the bed.

About Longkeep

Longkeep was the goal of Queen Jezmina's southern caravan. She called herself Queen of the Orindell and ordered whole towns to be moved across Embervale in search of fertile land. Her caravan split in two, with one group heading north to Pikemead's Reach and the other south to Longkeep. Jezmina led the southern group through Surat's Rest and the Pillars of Creation, where her camp was attacked at night. One of her notes was written with Longkeep in sight. Gormander's war banners at the gate show that the village once belonged to the kingdom of Meldore.
