The Enhanced Imperial Crossbow is the upgraded imperial crossbow. It hits for the same damage as the plain version and weighs the same, and the whole of its advantage is that it ignores half the target's armour, which matters most against the heavily armoured enemies a crossbow is otherwise poor at.
Attacks with the Enhanced Imperial Crossbow ignore 50 per cent of the target's armour. That is the whole point of an enhanced crossbow and it is the only difference from the plain Imperial Crossbow: damage, weight and speed are identical.
The effect is not an enchantment, so the weapon still counts as unenchanted and can be enchanted normally at an arcane enchanter. The one catch is cosmetic: the item card only ever shows the armour piercing line, so an enchantment you add is invisible on it.
Where to Find the Enhanced Imperial Crossbow Location?
Forged at any ordinary forge, but only after you own the plain Imperial Crossbow. The recipe consumes one, so the enhanced version is an upgrade rather than a separate build.
No merchant stocks the enhanced crossbows. Buying the Imperial Crossbow from the Fletcher in Solitude and upgrading it yourself is the only route.
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Enhanced Imperial Crossbow is not a leveled weapon.
