The Enhanced Crossbow is one of the best ranged weapons found in The Elder Scrolls: V Skyrim. Compared to the standard crossbow it ignores 50% of the targets armor. Dispite having the lowest damage of any other Crossbow in the game, it still deals the same amount of base damage as a Daedric Bow. Unlike Bows, crossbows use Bolts.
Weapon Enchantment
All crossbows have a 50% chance to stagger enemies, which increases to 75% if you unlock the Power Shot Perk. The enhanced crossbow also ignores 50% of the targets armor. The crossbow can also be enchanted with any effect for the ranged weapon category in addition to this.

Where to find the Enhanced Crossbow Location?
To get the Enhanced Crossbow you must do the following series of quests:
- First join the Dawnguard which can be done by traveling to Fort Dawnguard.
- Make sure you side with the Dawnguard in the 3rd quest Bloodline.
- After you will start the quest A New Order. During this quest you must recruit Sorine Jurard who will give you the side quest: Ancient Technology.
- After completing the first Ancient Technology quest, Sorine Jurard will start selling Enhanced Crossbows to you. If you ask, she can also teach you how to craft the Enhanced Crossbow.
- Note that ff you complete all 6 of the Ancient Technology side quests you can get the even more powerful Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow.
How to get a Enhanced Crossbow if you don't side with the Dawnguard?
Note that you can miss the chance to obtain the Enhanced Crossbow if you sided with Harkon during the quest Bloodline since it locks you out from the Dawnguard faction and Fort Dawnguard. If you have the Skyrim Anniversary Edition or have separately purchased the Expanded Crossbow Pack from the Creation Club Content Store, you can get the much more powerful Daedric Crossbow at level 1! Unlike the Crossbows added by Dawnguard, the enhanced version of these crossbows can be crafted at any regular Forge.

Weapon Levels
Some weapons in Skyrim are Levelled. The power of a levelled weapon is based on your charcters level when you get them. Some get stronger in both physical and magical aspects, while others only improve their enchantments. These items don't get better as your character levels up.
The Enhanced Crossbow is not a leveled weapon.
