Tar is black and heavy, and it can travel by portal, so every load can go straight home from the tar pits of the Plains. Growths squat in the pools there and spit at anything that comes close.
How to Get It
The pits themselves are the harvest: you collect the pools and lumps of tar straight off the ground around the edges, without a pickaxe. The Growths guarding them stay in one place but are far from harmless. They hurl tar that slows you to a crawl while Fulings and Deathsquitos close in, so padded or root armour and a ranged weapon make the difference. Chests buried around the pits are worth opening while you are there.
