Grausten steep stairs go where a shaft is only a metre wide and a broad flight will not fit. They cost five blocks of Grausten and climb two metres in a single narrow run. They share the Stairs and Ladders section with the wide flight and are most useful in towers, cellars and the tight corners of a fortress wall.
How to Build It
Each costs five Grausten, three fewer than the broad flight, with the usual Stonecutter in range. The trade for that saving is the pitch, which is steep enough to notice when you are overloaded. Keep these for service stairs and give the main route up the wider flight. Like the rest of the set they are stonework and will not stand on a wooden floor, so put stone or bare ground under the bottom step.
