Hook is the part of the Grappling Hook that you find rather than craft. It only turns up in chests, all of them in the Mistlands, and one is all a grappling hook needs. It weighs 5, which is heavy for its size, and stacks to 50.

How to Get It

Three kinds of Mistlands chest can hold it. The treasure chests in the treasure rooms of an Infested Mine contain Coins, minor meads, Sausages, a Dvergr Tankard and a hook. The chest in a ruined Dvergr Guard Tower can also hold one, and so can the chest at the top of a Rock Spire, though you have to climb to reach it.

An Infested Mine is the Mistlands dungeon dug under Black Marble, guarded by Seekers and Ticks. It is also where Black Cores, Royal Jelly and the Sealbreaker Fragments come from, so most players pass through several. A Rock Spire is a tall terraced rock, and three in four have a dvergr treasure chest at the very top.

• Both attacks of the grappling hook fire the line, and each costs 15 stamina.
• The hook cannot be upgraded, so the first one you make is the only one you need.
• The grappling hook only needs a level 1 Black Forge, and it helps you get around the craggy Mistlands terrain.
• The dvergr in intact guard towers stay peaceful until you attack them or damage their property.

Hook Crafting Recipes

The grappling hook is crafted at a level 1 Black Forge from one hook, ten Yggdrasil Wood, ten Refined Eitr and four Mandibles. It fires a line just over 40 metres and pulls you along it, for 15 stamina a shot. It is useful well beyond the Mistlands cliffs it was made for: in Mörkhalla you can drop down the central shaft to the bottom floor and hook your way back up to the entrance. The hook lifts you but does nothing to break a fall, so carry a Feather Cape with it.
