Black Core cannot be mined, smelted or crafted. Each one sits on a stand in a hidden room of the Infested Mines that run under the Mistlands, and the only way to get one is to walk in and pick it up.

How to Get It

All you need is the nerve to clear a mine. Find a mine entrance in the Mistlands and work your way through it. Check the sealed side rooms as well as the main halls, because the cores are usually on stands in the hidden chambers. Seekers and Seeker Soldiers nest inside and the passages are pitch dark, so bring a Wisplight and a weapon that hits through chitin. The number of cores varies wildly from mine to mine, and a bad one gives nothing at all, so plan on raiding several.
