No longship leaves the harbour without Iron Nails. You draw them out at the Forge from Iron, which means from the sunken crypts of the Swamp.
How to Get It
The nails themselves are trivial to make at a forge; all the work is in the iron behind them. You mine Scrap Iron out of muddy scrap piles inside sunken crypts, which stay shut until you take the Swamp Key from The Elder, then refine it in a Smelter with coal. Bring Poison Resistance Mead for the marsh, and carry the scrap back by boat unless your portal has a portal stone, since raw metal cannot travel any other way.
Iron Nails Building Elements
Nails are what let wood carry weight and survive the sea, so they turn up in the heavier furniture and the ocean-going hulls below.
