Moose Hide is the thick fur of the moose, made for the northern cold. You need it for the Protector set of the Deep North, the Caller robes and trousers and the Vanguard hood, and six of them go into the Moose Hide Cape. It weighs 1 and stacks to 50.
How to Get It
A moose drops two hides, four at one star and eight at two. Each one also drops four or five moose meat, two sinew and, one time in ten, the moose trophy. Moose roam the whole Deep North by day and night, usually alone.
Moose stand and fight. A moose has 1,000 health and charges with its antlers for 160 slash, sweeps them for 145 and kicks for 150 blunt, each every four seconds. It resists blunt, slash and frost and ignores spirit, while pierce lands in full. Fire is its weakness.
Mörkhalla is a second, quieter place to find it: the rolled sleeping spots on its bottom floor break for asksvin hide, moose hide, lox pelt and wolf pelt.
Notes
- Each Moose also drops four or five Moose Meat, which cooks on an Iron Cooking Station into an 80 health meal. It has a 10% chance to drop its trophy, which goes into the Headdress of the Caller, the Spirit Caller and the Neckstabber.
- To tame a Moose, pen it in and throw Lingonberries at its feet.
Moose Hide Crafting Recipes
Every hide recipe at quality 1 adds up to 43 hides. Upgrades add three and then six to each piece, up to quality 3, the highest the black forge and galdr table allow. That brings the Protector helmet to 13 in all, the breastplate and trousers to 17 each, the Vanguard hood to 14, the Caller robes and trousers to 15 each and the cape to 15. Finishing everything takes about 106 hides, or 53 plain moose.
You can tame moose with lingonberries and breed them like other tameable animals, and a starred one gives four or eight hides.
The sets it lines play very differently. Protector is the heavy set, with 44 armour a piece, the most armour in the game, no movement penalty and frost resistance on the breastplate. Vanguard is medium, with 34 a piece and a set bonus for running and dodging stamina, regeneration and pierce damage. Caller is the mage set, with 22 a piece and up to 60% more eitr regeneration. The Vanguard chestpiece and trousers and the Caller headdress use no moose hide. The Moose Hide Cape adds frost resistance and makes attacks and running cheaper.
