Until Bonemass gives up its Wishbone, most Silver Ore stays hidden under the mountainside, and that is what makes silver a tier rather than just another rock. Look for it in Silver Veins in the Mountain.
How to Get It
Wear the Wishbone while you walk the Mountain and listen for the ping, then dig down to the silver vein buried under the snow; now and then a vein breaks the surface as bare grey rock. You need an Iron Pickaxe or better to break one, so the Swamp has to be behind you for the iron as much as for the boss. Bring Frost Resistance Mead or wolf gear, expect Wolves and Drakes at your back, and remember that the ore cannot go through a portal.
Notes
- Like other metals, it cannot be teleported without a Portal Stone.
- If Drakes and Obsidian (100m for both) are spawning near you, you are close to the height silver needs to spawn (120m).
- Carts can be hard to use on Mountain slopes, but they still help cut down on extra trips.
- Silver Ore is the heaviest of all the ore types.
- Neither a Stone Golem nor an Antler Pickaxe can break it.
- Smelting it into Silver burns Coal. The Smelter uses one coal every 15 seconds and takes 30 seconds per bar, so every bar that comes out of the chute costs two coal. It holds 20 coal and 10 ore at a time, and it stops if the smoke above it has nowhere to go.
Silver Ore Crafting Recipes
Until it has been through a smelter, raw ore is good for only one thing.
