Silver sits under the Mountain out of reach until the Iron Pickaxe comes off the forge, since no earlier tool will break it. It deals 33 pierce and 33 pickaxe, and at 66 total damage it ranks 2nd among tools, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce damage hurts Trolls more than most things, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
Craft it at a level 2 forge from:
- 3x Corewood: Chopped from pine trees in the Black Forest.
- 20x Iron: Smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.

When to Use It
This is early game gear. Iron comes from Sunken Crypts in the Swamp, so it opens up once The Elder is down.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:

Properties
Here is a tool checklist, because missing one of these is how an evening gets wasted. Make the Antler Pickaxe the moment Eikthyr is down, since it is the gate on copper and tin. Upgrade the pickaxe at every tier: the harder deposits need it, and the Pickaxes skill rises on its own while you mine. Keep the hammer, hoe and cultivator in a chest at your base rather than on your back, and carry a spare axe, because chopping breaks tools faster than anything else.
- Skill: Pickaxes and Axes, which level up as you use them and lose a slice on death.
Notes
- Pickaxes are the only tool for mining ore deposits and digging terrain.
- Defeating Eikthyr unlocks the Antler Pickaxe, which is the gate on copper and tin.
- Tools change what you can do to the world rather than to creatures.
