Spinesnap is the bow to carry back down into the crypts, because the spirit damage worked into it tells on Draugr and Skeletons. The Mistlands supply the Refined Eitr that finishes it at the Black Forge. It deals 72 pierce and 5 spirit. At 77 total damage it ranks 5th among bows, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce hurts Ticks more than most things, and spirit hurts Bats and Ghosts, which is what you carry it for.
How to Craft
Made at a level 1 black forge, from:
- 10x Finewood: Chopped from birch and oak trees with a bronze axe or better.
- 40x Bone Fragments: Dropped by skeletons and found in rancid remains.
- 10x Refined Eitr: Refined from sap and soft tissue at an eitr refinery.

When to Use It
Mid game. It needs Mistlands materials and a Black Forge, so it comes after Yagluth and the sea crossing beyond him. The Ashlands and the Deep North still lie past this point.
Upgrades
It can be upgraded 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this table shows where your own copy sits:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Pierce | Spirit | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 1) | 72 | 5 | 100 |
|
| 2 | Black forge (Level 2) | 76 | 10 | 150 |
|
| 3 | Black forge (Level 3) | 80 | 15 | 200 |
|
| 4 | Black forge (Level 4) | 84 | 20 | 250 |
|
Properties
It adds spirit damage to every arrow. Most living creatures are immune to spirit, but undead, demons and a few others such as Bats take it. Against a Draugr or the Charred, that is 5 free damage a shot on top of whatever the arrow carries.
It deals 72 pierce from a level 1 Black Forge, so it is available the day the station is, while Ash Fang needs level 3.
The arrow is most of the shot. Ammunition damage is added to the bow's own before every other multiplier, so switching arrows changes more than moving up a bow tier does. The arrow is also where a bow build gets its damage type.
Notes
- The limbs always glow a faint crimson, dim beside a real light, and raise your visibility while sneaking by about 10%.
