Something pale slides out of the dark at the end of a Burial Chamber corridor, makes almost no sound and barely notices your axe. The Ghost is the Black Forest's reminder that sharper metal does not solve every problem: a slow, drifting revenant that halves blunt, slash and pierce damage alike. Most players meet one as an unpleasant surprise in a crypt they thought was cleared, or among the shapes that drift in during the raid that unlocks once Bonemass falls.
Behaviour
A Ghost floats rather than walks, hovering a little above the floor and closing in at a slow, steady drift that never speeds up and never breaks off. Its one attack is a sideways sweep of its hand through a short arc in front of it for 25 slash, repeated every couple of seconds for as long as you stand within about a metre of it. It has no ranged attack, no summon and no retreat at low health; it just keeps coming. It neither sleeps nor patrols, so the ones in a Burial Chamber are effectively waiting for the door to open. The danger is not the swipe but the trade: your hits land for half while theirs land in full, so a narrow corridor fight against two of them turns into a long grind where your stamina runs out well before their health does. They do not respawn once killed, so each fixed spawn is a one-time obstacle rather than a renewable nuisance.
Where to Find It
Ghosts live in enclosed dead places rather than open ground. One place to find one is an uncommon fixed spawn point inside the Burial Chambers scattered through the Black Forest, where one sits in a side room or at the end of a passage from the moment the dungeon generates. A second uncommon spawn point is in the Smouldering Tomb, the Hildir dungeon that also hides in the Black Forest, alongside the Skeletons guarding Brenna. The third way, and by far the one that brings the most Ghosts, is the raid announced by a message about a chill down your spine. It only becomes possible after Bonemass is dead, and it sends a group of them to your base wherever you have built it. Ghosts in a Smouldering Tomb can have one star; the others never do. Because none of them respawn, a world with raids switched off holds a strictly finite number of Ghosts, and every one you kill is gone for good.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Bring something that does spirit damage and this stops being a fight at all. A Silver Sword or Frostner lands for half again as much, and either will cut through 60 health in a swing or two. Without one, use fire, frost or lightning instead, which all land at full value, so a Fire Arrow or a lit Torch is a far better early answer than the Bronze Axe you were already holding. Do not keep swinging ordinary steel: the whole physical damage family is halved, and you will burn your whole stamina bar for very little. Blocking works and the swipe is slow and easy to read, so a parry with a decent shield staggers it and buys a free hit. In a corridor, that rhythm of block, parry, swing is the safest way through. Poison is wasted completely. In practice, iron gear plus a silver weapon or better makes them routine; before that, fight them in a doorway one at a time rather than letting two drift onto you at once.
Drops
Ectoplasm is the reason to farm it, an uncommon building material you cannot get anywhere else, and the trophy drops about one kill in ten.

Notes
- Like Leviathans, they do not respawn, so they are a finite creature when raids are disabled.
