Vitality

Vitality is Geralt's health. It drops as he takes damage, and he dies when it reaches zero. Food, potions, decoctions, mutagens and skills all restore it or raise its maximum.

Restoring Vitality

  • Eating food restores Vitality over time.
  • Swallow speeds up Vitality regen. With basic Swallow, regen pauses for 2 seconds when Geralt takes damage.
  • Troll Decoction gives 100 Vitality regen both during and outside combat.
  • Glyph Of Mending, an armor upgrade, gives +2 Vitality regen.
  • Quen's Active Shield turns the damage it absorbs into Vitality for Geralt.
  • The Bard's Ballad accessibility preset includes a Vitality Regeneration Boost option. Players set the threshold it activates below and its regen intensity.

Raising Maximum Vitality

Item Image Vitality
Lesser Green Mutagen Lesser Green Mutagen +50
Green Mutagen Green Mutagen +100
Greater Green Mutagen Greater Green Mutagen +150
Toussaint Knight's Tourney Armor (Relic) Toussaint Knight's Tourney Armor +500

Three matching green (Alchemy) skills linked to a green mutagen raise its bonus up to +200, +400 or +600. The Full Moon potion also raises maximum Vitality.

Skills

Remastered rebuilt the skill trees with three ranks per skill. Every General skill adds +1% Vitality at rank 1. Other rank 1 values:

  • Survival Instinct: maximum Vitality +8%.
  • Bear School Techniques: +2% maximum Vitality and +2% Strong Attack damage per piece of heavy armor.
  • Viper School Techniques: +2% maximum Vitality and +2% poison damage per piece of medium armor.
  • Sun and Stars: +10 Vitality per second outside combat during the day.
  • Gourmand: eating food regenerates Vitality for 5 minutes.
  • Refreshment: each potion dose heals 10% Vitality.
  • Tissue Transmutation: decoctions raise maximum Vitality by 300 for their duration.
  • Endure Pain: maximum Vitality +10% while Toxicity is above the safe threshold.
  • Undying: restores 10% Vitality per Adrenaline Point at 0 Vitality, once every 30 seconds.

Going above the Toxicity overdose threshold drains Vitality.

Before Remastered

Old Bear School Techniques gave +5% maximum Vitality per piece of heavy armor. Old Endure Pain gave +10% maximum Vitality per level above the safe Toxicity threshold.
