The Ash of War: Chilling Mist is an Ash of War in Elden Ring that grants the Cold affinity and the Chilling Mist skill. It is found in Liurnia of the Lakes, around the middle of a run.
Chilling Mist coats the weapon in frost and slashes forward, leaving a cloud of frigid mist in front of the wielder. The frost coating is a weapon buff that adds frostbite build-up to every hit for 40 seconds, and the mist keeps building frostbite on anything standing in it. A target that stays in the mist for its full duration usually suffers frostbite from a single cast. It suits frost builds and anyone who wants frostbite's extra damage and lowered enemy defense.

It grants the Cold affinity and a Whetblade can switch it to Standard, Heavy, Keen, Quality or Magic. The skill costs 14 FP. Skill
Cast it in front of an enemy that is committed to an attack so the target walks into the mist. The added frost build-up stacks with any frost the weapon already has, but it overwrites other weapon buffs. The slash has heavy hyper armor, which makes it safer to trade with.
