Count Ymir, Mother of Fingers is a great boss in Elden Ring. It is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Count Ymir is the high priest of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr who dreams of becoming a mother of fingers himself. He turns hostile at the end of his questline, after Metyr has fallen and his loyal Swordhand of Night has been beaten. He fights like a Tarnished with glintstone sorceries and spawns crawling fingercreepers. The duel shuts out spirit ashes and co-op.

Lore

Ymir is a tall, robed priest in a hat crowned with a circular design that represents the Greater Will and its lightless abyss. He carries a maternal staff and casts glintstone sorcery.

Count Ymir was a glintstone sorcerer who once taught Rellana of Caria. He abandoned his allegiance to the moon, calling it merely the closest of the celestial bodies. He believed that all are children of the Greater Will, born as stardust from a far-off rapture.

Ymir held that Queen Marika, the Two Fingers and their mother were defective from the start. He aspired to become a mother of fingers in their place. Jolán, Swordhand of Night, served him with fierce loyalty.

Attacks

Cherishing Fingers: he raises and slams his staff, and a ring of six fingers bursts up around him. A roll backward avoids it, then a counter fits as they fade.
Glintstone Nails: he waves his staff and fires six tracking projectiles. Sidestepping, a timed forward roll or a pillar avoids them.
Finger Spawn: he stands still and groans as fingercreepers crawl out of his body. The slow cast leaves him open.
Fingercreepers: small crawling summons that join the fight. Clearing them early keeps the fight manageable.

Tactics

Follow Ymir's questline to its end, then defeat Jolán's invasion at the throne to start the fight.
Use pillars to block his Glintstone Nails.
Punish him during Finger Spawn while he stands still.
Clear fingercreepers quickly, ideally with fire.
Use fast weapons such as fists or hand-to-hand arts to keep pressure on him.
Use lightning or slash damage for extra damage.
