The Golden Greatshield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. It shows up mid-run, in the Altus Plateau.

The Golden Greatshield is an oval greatshield made of gold, carried by the knights who protect the Royal Capital of Leyndell, whose reputation for sturdiness shows in its exceptional guard capacity. It is a rare drop from Leyndell Knights that use it, and the earliest one stands south of the Artist's Shack in Liurnia of the Lakes, where it can be farmed by resting at the Site of Grace. It has a guard boost of 70, weighs 17, needs 34 Strength and scales with Strength at D. It accepts Ashes of War, and its default is No Skill. It suits a Strength block-counter build that wants a high guard early.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 70, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 30. It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to holy, at 68%, and worst to lightning, at 57%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

Held in the off hand of a Strength and Faith block-counter build, it blocks attacks, lands block counters and follows with critical hits that refill FP for the main weapon's skill.

Stats	Strength 53, Faith 25, Dexterity 23, Vigor 50 to 60, Mind 25 to 35, Endurance 31
Affinity	Standard keeps its full guarding values.
Ash of War	Barricade Shield, which reduces the stamina drained by blocks to almost nothing.
Talismans	Assassin's Cerulean Dagger, Carian Filigreed Crest, Shard of Alexander, Curved Sword Talisman
Pairs With	Marika's Hammer, Golden Vow, Flame, Grant Me Strength
