The Frozen Needle is a Thrusting Sword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Liurnia of the Lakes, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

60 innate frost at +0 at only 2.5 weight, and its feint fires a projectile rather than just cancelling, the only feint in the game describes that way. 242 physical, B Dex at max standard. Chest behind the Royal Revenant in Kingsrealm Ruins.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E and Dex at D, so Dex is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 11 and Dex 18 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling. It also causes frost buildup (60) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

A razor-thin piercing blade of ice. Forged by Iji, the Carian Royal Blacksmith. Can inflict frost upon enemies, and launch its blade with a strong attack. The blade immediately regenerates.
