The Hammer is a Hammer in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

The generalist: 124 base physical, 303 max standard attack rating (AR) with B Str on, 116 Sta, 14 Str / 7 Dex. It ships with Kick, so there is no skill worth preserving and any Ash of War slots in free. Found on the upper floor of the Fortified Manor in Leyndell, right next to the Sanctified Whetblade, you can pick it up and change its affinity in the same room.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 14 and Dex 7 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Hammer comprised of a large stone affixed to a metal handle. Originally a blacksmith's tool. The art of smithing is said to have originated among the giants. This weapon's striking attacks boast ample weight behind them.
