The Morning Star is a Hammer in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Weeping Peninsula, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 12 and Dex 8 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling. It also causes blood loss buildup (50) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Warhammer comprised of a globe attached to a handle. Though a bludgeon dealing strike damage, the appellative star is covered in spikes which cause blood loss. Ironic given its graceful name, this weapon often reeks of blood.

Found in a chest in a broken down carriage down the road to the south of Bridge of Sacrifice and Irina in the Weeping Peninsula region.
