Rugalea the Great Red Bear is a field boss in Elden Ring. It comes from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
Rugalea the Great Red Bear is a giant horned bear that prowls a forest clearing in the Rauh Base. It throws rocks with its claws, slams its body down and roars to knock foes flat. Defeating it grants the Roar of Rugalea incantation. Fire and sleep turn the fight in the player's favor.
Lore
Rugalea is a giant bear with red fur and horns jutting from its head, far larger than common runebears.
The deadliest horned predators are said to enjoy hunting and devouring other horned creatures. Those who seek the so-called bear communion channel Rugalea's power to become a great red bear and loose its mighty roar.

Attacks
- Single and Double Fist Ground Burst: it digs one or both claws into the ground and hurls rocks forward. A dodge to either side avoids it.
- Slashes: it rises and swings both claws one at a time. Dodging back with each swing avoids them.
- Body slam: it rears up and crashes down on its belly. A dodge back or to the side avoids it.
- Mighty Roar: it rises on its hind legs and roars, knocking the player down. A roll forward behind it avoids the roar.
Tactics
- Bring Sleep Pots or Eternal Sleep Pots, since sleep staggers it and opens free hits.
- Dodge sideways from its ground bursts.
- Roll behind it as soon as it rises for Mighty Roar.
- Use fire damage, because Rugalea takes extra damage from fire.
- Summon a spirit ash to share its attention.
