The Watchdog's Greatsword is a Colossal Sword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Late game. It is found around Mountaintops of the Giants, far enough in that it is an end-of-run weapon rather than something to build towards.

Why Players Pick It

Highest stance damage on 's whole set of tables for this class: 180 with Heavy infusion and 164 on standard. It is infusable and drops from Erdtree Burial Watchdogs, so it is repeatable rather than one-per-playthrough, the cheapest route to a dedicated poise-breaker.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at C and Dex at E, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 30 and Dex 10 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Notes

Stone greatsword wielded by Erdtree Burial Watchdogs. Though decorated with the watchman's eye, the pupil was taken by graverobbers and is now hollow, leaving this sword a mere lump of stone.

How to Get Watchdog's Greatsword Guide

Dropped from the Erdtree Burial Watchdog enemies that wield it.
The simplest grinding spot is in the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave.
A Watchdog shade is found in the first big open room with a circle of Rosus's light.
It staggers when led into the light, making for easy damage at the start of combat.
If it is approached from behind by dropping down from the high windows, the two imp shades in the room can be defeated before approaching the Watchdog.
